One of the all-time greats, Eddie Guerrero came up through the Mexican lucha libre scene before making a big splash in the States via WCW and ultimately ending up in WWE in 2000. Proving capable of working both babyface and heel, Guerrero shone in matches with Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and rival/partner Rey Mysterio, capturing multiple championships along the way.

10 Eddie Gives Vince A Lift

On a late July 2004 SmackDown Kurt Angle — at the time a power-mad authority figure of SmackDown — forced rival Eddie Guerrero to beg to keep his job. That’s when Vince McMahon showed up to not only put Angle in his place, but also book Angle in a match against Guerrero at the upcoming Summerslam. A post-promo celebration ensued to close out the episode, which had Guerrero offering McMahon a ride out of the arena in his lowrider at ringside. The WWE boss obliged, but was visibly nervous in the passenger seat as the car made sudden, hard jerks thanks to the hydraulics.

9 Eddie Betrays Tajiri

While Eddie Guerrero’s most famous stag team was with his nephew Chavo Guerrero, an injury to Chavo resulted in Eddie being paired with Japanese star Tajiri. The duo proved successful, capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship from Team Angle. However, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas would win back the belts after 44 days in a match during which Tajiri fell off the ring apron, landing on Eddie’s lowrider. Unconcerned for his partner’s well-being, Guerrero — after some humorously horrified reactions — turned on his partner for damaging his lowrider, although the attack resulted in more damage to the car.

8 Eddie Steals Flair’s Royal Rumble Number

Eddie Guerrero’s credo was “Lie, cheat and steal,” which often came into play in both matches and backstage segments. Ahead of the 2005 Royal Rumble, Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair were called into a back office to pick their entry numbers out of one of those spinning bingo drums, with Flair feeling celebratory while Guerrero looked visibly disappointed.

Despite that, Guerrero gave The Nature Boy a big hug, wishing the legend good luck. However, it was soon revealed that Guerrero had switched their numbers during the hug — and, it was later revealed, stole Flair’s wallet.

7 Eddie & Chavo Play Golf

While Eddie and Chavo Guerrero was tagging together, they had pretaped segments called Lie, Cheat, and Steal, which showed Los Guerreros being loveable rascals while doing everyday activites. In one particularly fun segment, Eddie and Chavo ran afoul of a golf course, where they played against two stuffy country club types. As their round of golf went on, the Guerreros got into such antics as fudging their score sheets, taking part in a little golf cart polo, and cheating by just picking up the ball and throwing it. On top of that, this segment may have been fuel for Chavo’s later obsession with golf and caucasity.

6 Eddie & Angle Toss The Chair Back And Forth

On the 4/14/2005 SmackDown Eddie Guerrero took on rival Kurt Angle in a tournament to crown the next #1 Contender to the WWE Championship. Angle eventually got the win, but not before Guerrero attempted some of his signature corner-cutting. In one choice moment, Eddie attempted his signature “toss the opponent a chair and fall to the ground” move, only for Kurt to smartly toss the chair back. Guerrero then threw it back to Angle, who tried to get rid of it by tossing it rinside. Despite that, the ref still noticed and admonished Angle for introducing a chair.

5 Eddie Wins His Last Match Ever With The Chair Trick

In November of 2005, Eddie Guerrero tragically died of heart failure, five days after his last match, a televised bout against Mr. Kennedy — one of WWE’s biggest could-have-beens — to earn a spot on SmackDown’s Survivor Series team. During the match, Guerrero pulled off the chair trick one last time, tossing it to Kennedy and flopping to the mat while the referee was knocked out, causing the ref to DQ Kennedy. As sad as it is, it’s also hilariously perfect that Eddie Guerrero’s last match was won by underhandedly forcing a disqualification win.

4 Batista Steals Eddie’s Food

One of the more fun yet underrated stretches of Eddie Guerrero’s WWE run was his partnership with Batista, which saw Guerrero attempt to become best friends with the World Heavyweight Champion. The angle never wrapped up because of Guerrero’s death, but it did offer some very funny moments.

On a late September 2005 SmackDown, Eddie Guerrero was backstage enjoying some Mexican food only for Batista to show up and discourage him from eating before their big Tag Team Title match later that night. Batista then took the food for himself, eliciting some legitimately hilarious heartbroken expressions from Guerrero.

3 Eddie Cheats Using The Tag Rope

In WWE, wrestlers can only tag in during tag team matches if they’re holding onto a rope hanging their turnbuckle, which limits how far they can move on the apron. Of course, Eddie Guerrero figured out how to cheat with the tag rope. While teaming with Booker T against The Basham Brothers, Guerrero ended up untying the tag rope from the turnbuckle and then tied it to the ring rope, allowing himself to move as far down the apron as he wanted. As one might expect, the referee did not like this.

2 Tajiri Gets Eddie His First Lowrider

As established, Eddie Guerrero turned on Tajiri because of some lowrider-related mishap, but what’s ironic about that is that Tajiri is the one who got Guerrero his first to begin with. On a late May 2003 episode of SmackDown — after they had captured the Tag Team Championship — Tajiri presented Guerrero with a set of car keys. Excited, Guerrero asked where he got a lowrider, to which Tajiri replied, “We lie, we cheat, we steal.” Like a proud papi, Guerrero remarked, “He’s learning so fast,” and the lowrider became a regular part of Eddie’s entrance.

1 Custody Of Dominik Ladder Match

Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio had been rivals in the past, but in 2005 they got into their most intense feud, with Guerrero claiming that Mysterio’s son Dominik was actually his biological son. The feud culminated with a ladder match at SummerSlam where custody papers were suspended over the ring, with Mysterio winning after interference from Eddie’s wife, Vickie Guerrero. As ridiculous as that bout was, what was truly hilarious was the accompanying match graphic, a transcendent work of absurdity that still has meme value to this day.
