A closer for UNC-Greensboro, Wantz has pitched out of the bullpen during his last three seasons after starting as a freshman. This spring Wantz posted a 2.95 ERA with 81 strikeouts and 18 walks in 55 innings. A big, 6-foot-4, 200-pound pitcher, Wantz throws in the 90-93 mph range with an average changeup and a below-average slider.
