In August 2023, Celeb Dirty Laundry speculated that a return of Lola Rosales to "The Young and the Restless" might be in order considering her name was mentioned in the aftermath of Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman's divorce. When he was with Lola, her ex-sister-in-law Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) mistook her for Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) — who she wanted to get revenge on — and hit her over the head, landing her into the freezing water of a pool.

As a result, Lola needed a liver transplant and the only person who was a viable match was shockingly Summer. She agreed to help Lola, but only if he married her and they stayed married for a year. So when Kyle threw that in her face during their breakup, it really hurt Summer who believed she'd matured past her scheming ways.

She hadn't, though, and this — along with her keeping secret from him the fact that her mother, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), was really not as dead as everyone believed — led to their split. As a result, he had an affair with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), sealing the divorce. Having Lola return to attempt to rekindle things with Kyle would be just the weapon he'd need to further get back at Summer and keep fans entertained.
